Types of setting for gemstone beads:

Bezel setting: Bezel is a metal strip made into the size and shaped of the stone. The gemstone is then set into the bezel and set accordingly. It is best for cabochons and faceted stones.

Prong setting: The number of wires called prongs set in the desired shape and size to hold the stone together. This is a rather classy setting and is mainly used in engagement rings.

Channel setting: Gemstones set between a strip or bar. When in line, it is channel setting but when the bars cross the lines of the design, it is bar setting.

Bead setting: When a hole is drilled into the metal to set the stone in it .The gravers or burins are used to lift and push a tiny bit of the metal into and over the edge of the stone.

Burnish Setting: It is similar to bead setting but in this setting, a burnishing tool is used to push the metal all around the stone. Sandblasting is required to finish the process.
